POSITION SUMMARY
The Bookkeeper/Accounting Technician will be responsible for the daily bookkeeping of accounting records, maintenance of ledgers, and the control of books of accounts. The candidate should also have accounting principles and government legislation understanding to ensure accuracy and compliance with provincial and federal requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Posting of transactions and bank reconciliations
- Filing, scanning, and accounting for all documents related to financial activities to ensure the IPS digital filing system is well-maintained and up to date
- Assisting in month-end closing activities such as accounting for all the financial activities of the month
- Verifying and updating all accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Maintaining and updating the general ledger
- Addressing and resolving accounting discrepancies
- Working with other departments to ensure timely and accurate information
- Supporting other departments as necessary

- Accounting and bookkeeping knowledge
- Methodical and logical approach to work
- Organization skills and detailed approach
- Ability to handle changing priorities
- Strong communication skills including written and verbal
- Comfort with technology and ability to learn new software
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines
- Comfort working within a small to mid-size team

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work experience in bookkeeping and general accounting (essential)
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and the rest of MS Office suite
- Proficiency with Microsoft GP and ability to use other related software applications
- Familiarity with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation)
- Data entry, records maintenance, account balancing and account reconciliation skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work in a regular office environment and operate standard office equipment
